Every year my wife and I spend countless hours walking the shorelines of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, collecting thousands of stones shaped by waves, sand, and time. Most never become a finished cairn. Back in my workshop, I patiently try different combinations until the right balance, colors, and character quietly reveal themselves.
This one-of-a-kind garden cairn is the result of that process.
Unlike bonded sculptures, this traditional cairn is designed to be re-stackable. Each of the 21 stones naturally rests upon the next, allowing you to rebuild and reconnect with it whenever you choose. The arrangement shown is one of its most stable forms and is suitable for normal outdoor conditions, although an occasional shifting stone from wildlife or severe weather is simply part of the authentic cairn experience.
